The Bank of Russia will release a new numismatic coin set in souvenir packaging on December 1, 2025. The set includes eight coins: 1- and 5-copeck cupronickel plated steel coins; 10- and 50-copeck brass plated steel coins; 1-, 2-, and 5-ruble nickel plated steel coins; and a 10-ruble brass plated steel coin.
The packaging features panoramic images of old Moscow, referencing the city’s history as a minting center since the late 14th century. The first such numismatic set was issued by the Bank of Russia in 2024.
Coin diameters range from 15.5 mm for the smallest (1-copeck) to 25.0 mm for the largest (5-ruble). All coins have a relief rim around their circumference. The edges of the copeck coins are smooth, while ruble coins feature corrugated or intermittently corrugated edges depending on denomination.
The obverse side of the copeck coins depicts Saint George the Victorious slaying a dragon, with “BANK OF RUSSIA,” the year “2025,” and an S-P mint mark indicating production at the Saint Petersburg Mint. The ruble coins display the National Coat of Arms of Russia, a semicircular inscription reading “RUSSIAN FEDERATION,” paired diamonds, the mint trademark, “BANK OF RUSSIA,” and the year.
On the reverse, each coin bears its denomination in Russian along with stylized plant branches. The 10-ruble coin includes additional security features: inside one numeral is another figure “10” and an inscription “RUB” that becomes visible from different angles.
All coins are minted to brilliant uncirculated quality. A total of 35,000 sets will be produced.
According to the Bank of Russia, these coins are legal tender throughout Russia and must be accepted for all types of payments at face value.
