On May 15, 2025, the Bank of Russia will release a commemorative 3-ruble silver coin to mark the centennial anniversary of the International Child Centre ‘Artek.’ This coin is part of the Historical Events series and is catalogued as No. 5111-0518.

Artek began in 1925 with just four canvas tents at the base of Ayu-Dag Mountain. It became a well-known Soviet pioneer camp, attracting children from across the USSR and abroad. Over its century-long history, Artek has hosted more than 1.8 million children and is often called “the capital of the childhood country.”

The new coin weighs 31.1 grams with a fineness of 925/1,000 and measures 39.0 mm in diameter. Both sides feature a relief rim around their circumference.

The obverse side displays a relief image of the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation along with inscriptions: “РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ” (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), “БАНК РОССИИ” (BANK OF RUSSIA), “3 РУБЛЯ” (3 RUBLES), and “2025 г.” (2025). Additional details include the chemical symbol for silver from Mendeleev’s Periodic Table, fineness, Saint Petersburg Mint trademark, and fine metal content.

On the reverse side, there is a colored element featuring Artek’s logo set against an image of Ayu-Dag mountain that has been laser treated for matte finishing. The inscriptions include “МЕЖДУНАРОДНЫЙ ДЕТСКИЙ ЦЕНТР АРТЕК” (INTERNATIONAL CHILD CENTRE ‘ARTEK’) around its circumference and “100” above it.

The edge of this proof-quality coin is corrugated. With a mintage limited to just 3,000 pieces, this legal tender can be used for all payments within Russia at face value without restrictions.

“The reference to the Press Service is mandatory if you intend to use this material.”
