On May 6, 2025, the Bank of Russia will release a commemorative coin to mark the 300th anniversary of the Order of Saint Alexander Nevsky. This 3-ruble silver coin is part of the Historical Events series and carries Catalogue No. 5111-0517.

The Order of Alexander Nevsky was initially conceived by Peter I and first awarded by Catherine I in 1725. It is notable for being an award during both the Russian Empire and Soviet Union eras, and it continues to be part of Russia’s award system today.

The coin, made from silver with a fine metal content of 31.1 grams and a fineness of 925/1,000, has a round shape with a diameter of 39.0 mm. Both sides feature a relief rim around their circumference.

On the obverse side, there is a relief image of the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation along with inscriptions that include ‘РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ’ (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), ‘БАНК РОССИИ’ (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination ‘3 РУБЛЯ’ (3 RUBLES), and the year ‘2025 г.’ (2025). It also includes details such as the chemical symbol for silver from Mendeleev’s Periodic Table, its fineness, the Saint Petersburg Mint trademark, and fine metal content.

The reverse features colored relief images depicting the badge and star of the Order against a background showing part of the Holy Trinity Cathedral at Alexander Nevsky Lavra. The surface is laser treated for matte finishing. Inscriptions read ‘УЧРЕЖДЕНИЕ ОРДЕНА СВЯТОГО АЛЕКСАНДРА НЕВСКОГО’ (THE ESTABLISHMENT OF THE ORDER OF SAINT ALEXANDER NEVSKY) around its circumference with ‘1725’ above it.

The edge is corrugated, and each coin is minted in proof quality. A total mintage of 3,000 pieces has been planned. As legal tender in Russia, these coins must be accepted for all types of payments at face value without restrictions.

The Press Service must be credited if this material is used.
