Bank of Russia issues commemorative coin for scientific intelligence centenary

On June 3, 2025, the Bank of Russia will release a commemorative silver coin to mark the 100th anniversary of scientific and technical intelligence. The coin has a denomination of three rubles and is made from fine silver with a content of 31.1 grams and a fineness of 925/1,000. It is round with a diameter of 39.0 mm.

The obverse side features the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation, along with inscriptions that include “РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ” (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), “БАНК РОССИИ” (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination “3 РУБЛЯ” (3 RUBLES), and the year “2025 г.” (2025). Additional details include the chemical symbol for silver, its fineness, the Saint Petersburg Mint trademark, and fine metal content.

On the reverse side, there are schematic images representing various technological advancements such as a naval vessel, fighter aircraft, artificial Earth satellite, nuclear power plant, microcircuit, and artificial intelligence within stylized atom orbits. A small emblem of Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service is centrally placed with colored elements. The inscriptions read “НАУЧНО-ТЕХНИЧЕСКАЯ РАЗВЕДКА СВР РОССИИ” (SCIENTIFIC AND TECHNICAL INTELLIGENCE OF RUSSIA’S SVR) and “100 ЛЕТ” (100 YEARS), separated by laurel twig images.

The edge of this proof-quality coin is corrugated. The mintage is limited to 3,000 pieces. As legal tender in Russia, it must be accepted for all payments at face value without restrictions.
