On April 21, 2025, the Bank of Russia will release a 2-ruble silver commemorative coin as part of their Heroes of the Great Patriotic War series, honoring Leonid Govorov. This coin celebrates Marshal of the Soviet Union Leonid Govorov, a noted military leader. Govorov commanded the 5th Army of the Soviet Western Front during the defensive battles near Moscow and was instrumental in lifting the siege of Leningrad. His accomplishments earned him the title of Hero of the Soviet Union.

The coin, made of silver with a fine metal content of 15.55 grams and a fineness of 925/1,000, has a diameter of 33.0 mm and a round shape. The obverse side includes a relief image of the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation and several inscriptions: “РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ” (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), “БАНК РОССИИ” (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination “2 РУБЛЯ” (2 RUBLES), the issue year “2025 г.” (2025), and other identifying marks.

The reverse side of the coin features a relief image of Leonid Govorov’s portrait alongside the Gold Star medal, set against the silhouette of the Peter and Paul Cathedral. A semicircular relief inscription beneath the portrait reads “Л.А. ГОВОРОВ” (LEONID GOVOROV). The coin’s edge is corrugated.

With a mintage of 3,000 pieces, the coin is minted in proof quality and qualifies as legal tender in the Russian Federation, accepted for all types of payments at its face value. “The reference to the Press Service is mandatory if you intend to use this material.”
