The use of biometric and QR code payments has grown significantly in Russia during the second quarter of 2025, according to recent data. Consumers are increasingly turning to these methods for everyday purchases.

In the second quarter, biometrics were used approximately 60 million times to pay for goods and services totaling about ₽45 billion. This marks a 1.5-fold increase in the number of transactions compared to the first quarter of 2025, and an elevenfold rise year on year. The average transaction amount was ₽770 between April and June, compared to ₽774 in the previous three months.

QR codes also saw wider adoption. Nearly 990 million payments were made using QR codes from April to June, with a total value exceeding ₽1.3 trillion. These figures represent a 25% increase in payment volume and a 16% rise in value over the first quarter of 2025.
