A joint operation by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) has been recognized with the Bank of Canada’s Counterfeit Deterrence Award. The award was presented to Curtis Dolliver, Annie Lachapelle, and Philippe Sincennes from CBSA, as well as Corporal Mitch Thompson from RCMP.

The team disrupted an attempt to smuggle counterfeit bank notes and related components into Canada. Their efforts led to the arrest of a major counterfeiter in Nova Scotia. The Bank of Canada stated that this recognition highlights their collaboration across provincial lines and their role in protecting the financial safety and welfare of Canadians.

The recipients were honored at the annual Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police Summit, which took place in Victoria on August 12, 2025.

According to the Bank of Canada, “This award, which the Bank began presenting in 2004, recognizes the outstanding achievements of criminal justice professionals and educators involved in the prevention and deterrence of bank note counterfeiting in Canada.”
