Haseeb Ijaz, a cryptocurrency and decentralized finance (DeFi) researcher, said that Changpeng Zhao’s concept is that digital crypto assets should endure meaningfully rather than disappear. This statement was made on social media to emphasize the importance of structured digital assets.

“A will function is actually genius,” said Ijaz, Crypto & DeFi Researcher. “Most people don’t plan digital inheritance, this solves that. Imagine your crypto living on with purpose, not just vanishing. CZ’s thinking decades ahead, not just market cycles.”

According to Outlook Money, planning for crypto inheritance is crucial to prevent digital assets from becoming permanently inaccessible to heirs. Many individuals fail to include their private keys, passwords, or wallet access information in their estate plans, creating significant obstacles for beneficiaries. Without clear instructions or mechanisms for transfer, heirs may never be able to recover or access these digital assets. A will function could provide a structured solution by ensuring assets are automatically and securely transferred to chosen recipients.

AInvest reported that a will function allows users to designate emergency contacts or beneficiaries who can access assets after a set period of inactivity or the owner’s death. This process helps reduce the risk of digital assets being lost due to forgotten passwords, unshared credentials, or unforeseen events. By providing a built-in system for inheritance, platforms can offer users reassurance that their crypto holdings will be reliably transferred to their intended heirs.

According to Technext, Changpeng Zhao “CZ” proposed the will function after recognizing the widespread issue of dormant and irretrievable crypto assets accumulating on various platforms. He noticed that without specific inheritance mechanisms, vast amounts of digital wealth could remain inaccessible following an account holder’s death. By introducing automated estate planning options, Zhao aims to help users safeguard the future transfer of their digital assets and address a major vulnerability in crypto management.

As per his X profile, Ijaz has said, “Owning 1 Bitcoin is the new American dream” and “Digital Scarcity is the new Status Symbol.”
