Jane He, General Partner of YZi Labs, said that Binance founder Changpeng “CZ” Zhao’s dedication to biotech investing is driven by his commitment to supporting overlooked innovators and prioritizing people. The statement was made during an interview.

“CZ listened more than he spoke, scribbling notes, his curiosity as genuine as his resolve,” said He. “For him, investing in biotech is an act of defiance, a way to open doors for the dreamers. He believes that fairness and innovation aren’t mutually exclusive, that you can build something ambitious without losing sight of the people it’s meant to serve. CZ makes me believe that we are building something that feels more like a movement than a fund.”

The biotechnology and healthcare investment landscape in 2024 has experienced a resurgence in venture capital funding, particularly for early-stage companies. According to Investopedia, after a downturn in 2023, the sector has seen renewed interest with significant capital inflows supporting innovation in areas such as AI-driven drug discovery and personalized medicine. This revival is attributed to advancements in technology, favorable regulatory changes, and a growing demand for innovative healthcare solutions. Analysts note that while challenges remain, the current trend indicates a positive outlook for biotech investments.

Changpeng Zhao, commonly known as CZ, is recognized as a prominent entrepreneur and investor for his leadership in the global cryptocurrency industry. He founded Binance and served as its CEO until recently. Under his guidance, Binance became the world’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume. According to Forbes, CZ is widely credited with promoting blockchain innovation and increasing access to digital assets worldwide, earning him a reputation as one of the most influential figures in fintech.
