From September 1, 2025, banks and microfinance organizations will be restricted from imposing fees, penalties, or fines on the outstanding loans of deceased borrowers during the inheritance process. This measure follows the adoption of a new law by the State Duma.

The prohibition will last for six months unless a different period is specified by law or court ruling. The ban applies to consumer loan agreements, microloan agreements, and mortgages of deceased borrowers.
