The Town of Holden announced on May 14 that it is seeking public input for the Vision Zero Action Plan Survey, inviting residents to share their perspectives and priorities for inclusion in the regional plan.
Vision Zero is described as a data-driven, nationally recognized approach focused on eliminating fatal and serious injury crashes on roadways. The town says that community participation will help ensure local needs are reflected in future safety initiatives.
Residents are encouraged to complete the short online survey, which can be accessed at https://survey123.arcgis.com/share/a3f878b9dac441b3a5468927f5962472. “Your input matters! Please participate in the Vision Zero Survey to ensure the perspectives and priorities of our town are reflected in the regional plan,” said officials from Holden.
Holden maintains a broad network of boards and committees focused on areas like conservation, housing, and recreation to support community needs, according to the official website. The town owns recreational facilities such as Eagle Lake Recreation Area and supports institutions like Gale Free Library, which exceeds state minimum funding requirements. Its population reached 17,346 in 2010 after steady growth over previous decades. Local governance includes a five-member Board of Selectmen elected to three-year terms. Additionally, Holden has formed committees such as the Dementia Friendly Community Committee and uses zoning bylaws under Chapter 40A of Massachusetts General Laws to guide land use while preserving its suburban character—all according to information from the official website.
Broader adoption of initiatives like Vision Zero could influence how communities across Massachusetts address roadway safety challenges.
