In the last quarter of 2024, investors showed increased activity in opening and topping up individual investment accounts (IIAs). During this period, broker clients deposited ₽64 billion, marking a fourfold increase compared to the previous year. Overall contributions for 2024 surpassed those of 2023 by a factor of 2.5, highlighting the growing appeal of type 3 IIAs among retail investors.

The growth in client contributions, along with positive revaluation of securities, boosted the portfolios in IIAs to ₽595 billion. Russian shares remained the preferred choice for investors. However, towards the end of the year, there was also significant interest in money market fund units and bonds issued by residents due to their attractive yields amid high interest rates.

By the end of 2024, the total number of IIAs had reached 6.1 million.
