Binance Charity has pledged to donate up to $1 million in BNB token vouchers to registered Binance users affected by the catastrophic floods in Brazil's Southern Region. The organization is rapidly identifying users and distributing funds to their accounts.
In a blog post by Binance, it was stated that Binance Charity committed to distribute $80 in BNB token vouchers to users residing in the severely impacted cities of Rio Grande do Sul. It urged those affected to complete a Proof of Address (POA) on or before May 6. Those who meet the criteria will receive the token vouchers in their Rewards Hub as early as May 9.
The post further clarified that users unable to complete the POA by the May 6 deadline due to unavoidable circumstances may still be eligible for a donation. If they manage to complete the POA before June 6, they will receive $25 in BNB token vouchers.
"Crypto transfers are now increasingly being used to deliver financial aid to disaster victims as they provide fast, low-cost, borderless, and transparent transactions," said Binance in the blog post. "In these difficult times, Binance stands by our users, and we will continue to work on additional ways to help our community in Brazil."
According to the same blog post, Binance Charity has previously extended support to users in Ukraine, Turkey, Libya, Morocco, Taiwan, and Italy.
