Engineers and humanitarians can be successful in asset management provided they have experience in securities transactions. Investors with degrees in economics and work experience at financial institutions earn the highest returns.
A research degree is also a characteristic of successful investors, especially among qualified ones. These findings come from the Bank of Russia’s behavioral assessment conducted as part of Moscow Exchange’s competition ‘The Best Investor’. During the assessment, experts explored the correlation between a person’s education and investment results. In addition to education, the study also considered effective criteria for receiving qualified investor status.
According to the assessment, the most successful investors in the forward market possess knowledge in funding, capital raising, behavioral economics, and fundamental and technical analysis. The best results in the securities market are achieved by investors who understand risk management principles, ethics, and professional standards.
Regarding qualification criteria, investors believe that important factors include work experience at financial institutions, securities trading amounts, and obtaining an international certificate. Conversely, asset value has the weakest correlation with an investor’s success.
As a result of the study, the Bank of Russia has identified which requirements for receiving qualified investor status may be reduced if a person has the necessary educational background. The Bank plans to discuss possible revisions with market participants.
