On July 26, 2024, the Bank of Russia Board of Directors decided to extend the powers of Svetlana Maximova as the Financial Consumer Ombudsman in Insurance, Microfinance, Credit Cooperation, and Credit Institutions’ Operations.
Pursuant to Federal Law No. 123-FZ, dated June 4, 2018, 'On the Financial Consumer Ombudsman,' a financial ombudsman is appointed by the Bank of Russia Board of Directors, as advised by the Chief Financial Ombudsman, for five years. Svetlana Maximova was first appointed as a financial ombudsman on August 19, 2019.
