A new stage of the testing of transactions with real digital rubles starts on 1 September 2024. The total number of participants will markedly increase.
The expanded parameters of the testing will make it possible to engage up to 9,000 people and 1,200 companies, whereas only 600 people and 22 companies took part in it during the previous stage. So far, digital ruble transactions will be available to the customers of the same 12 banks that have been participating in the pilot testing since its start in August 2023. In the future, more banks will be included in this list.
In addition to opening, closing, or depositing money into digital ruble accounts (digital wallets), person-to-person transfers, payments for goods and services, and simple automatic payments (smart contracts), the pilot testing participants will be able to try out new transactions — dynamic QR code payments and business-to-business transfers.
The digital ruble is a digital form of the national currency and a convenient tool for making secure payments and money transfers. Individuals and companies will be able to choose on their own which of the ruble forms they prefer to use.
