The Bank of Canada has announced the nomination period for its 2025 Governor's Award, inviting Canadian universities to nominate exceptional academics. For this period, applications for the Fellowship Award are not being accepted as all awards are currently held.
The nomination window for the 2025 Fellowship Program Governor’s Award is open from September 6 to November 29, 2024.
The Fellowship Program aims to encourage and foster excellence in research related to the Bank’s core functions. It promotes collaboration and partnerships between Bank researchers and leading academics at Canadian post-secondary institutions. Additionally, it contributes to the education and development of Canada’s researchers in fields pertinent to the Bank’s core functions.
Rhys Mendes, Deputy Governor, emphasized the importance of collaboration between policymakers and academia: “Collaboration between policymakers and academia is essential to progress in the public sphere—and from our perspective it fosters more innovative central banking. Creating those ties is the raison d’être for the Fellowship Program. It’s an ideal forum for building a shared experience that is enriching and valuable for all involved.”
The Fellowship Program offers two awards.
