Bank of Russia issues commemorative coins for Union State Treaty’s 25th anniversary

On September 9, 2024, the Bank of Russia will issue commemorative coins to mark the 25th anniversary of the Union State Treaty. The release includes a 3-ruble silver coin and a 25-ruble cupronickel coin with colored coating.

The 3-ruble silver coin has a fine metal content of 31.1 grams and a fineness of 925/1,000. It is round in shape with a diameter of 39.0 mm. Both the obverse and reverse sides feature a relief rim around the circumference. The obverse displays a relief image of the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation, along with inscriptions for "РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ" (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA), the denomination "3 РУБЛЯ" (3 RUBLES), the year "2024 г." (2024), the chemical symbol of silver, its fineness, the Saint Petersburg Mint trademark, and fine metal content.

The reverse side (Catalogue No. 5111-0509) features colored symbols dedicated to the Union State Treaty's anniversary against a background of Belarusian and Russian ornaments in relief. The edge is corrugated, and it is minted in proof quality with a mintage limited to 3,000 pieces.

The base metal coin has a denomination of 25 rubles and is also round with a diameter of 27.0 mm. Similar to the silver coin, it has a relief rim around its circumference and a corrugated edge. The obverse features the National Coat of Arms of Russia with an inscription above it reading "РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ" (RUSSIAN FEDERATION) framed by paired diamonds on both sides. Below this are inscriptions for "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA), "25 РУБЛЕЙ" (25 RUBLES), and "2024 г." (2024). The Moscow Mint trademark appears on the right.

The reverse side (Catalogue No. 5015-0071) mirrors that of its silver counterpart, featuring colored symbols for the Union State Treaty's anniversary against Belarusian and Russian ornaments in relief. This coin has a mintage limited to 50,000 pieces.

Both new coins are legal tender in Russia and must be accepted for all types of payments at their face value without restrictions.
