BRICS nations conduct first international cyber drills in Tatarstan

Representatives of the central banks of seven BRICS countries participated in cyber drills organized by the Bank of Russia. The event, held over several days, focused on training participants to counter urgent cybersecurity threats.

Each team from the member states investigated an incident and reconstructed an entire cyber kill chain to track down attackers and mitigate the consequences. One scenario involved cybercriminals attacking a financial institution by exploiting a vulnerability in its provider’s infrastructure.

To conclude the drills, participants shared their experiences in responding to cyber attacks and implementing data protection measures.

The Bank of Russia plans to continue collaborating with cybersecurity experts from BRICS member states through the BRISC Channel to coordinate efforts against cross-border cyber threats.

The drills took place from September 16 through 19 at Innopolis University as part of Russia’s BRICS Presidency action plan.
