Bank of Russia issues commemorative Fabergé Scoop coins

On October 2, 2024, the Bank of Russia released new silver commemorative coins as part of the Jewellery Art in Russia series. The coins, known as 'Fabergé Scoop,' come in denominations of 3 rubles and two versions of 25 rubles—one with a colored coating.

These coins are inspired by a Fabergé collection item originally created for official gifts during the Romanov dynasty's tercentenary in 1913. The scoop is shaped like a traditional Russian kovsh and adorned with national symbols.

The specifications for the coins include a fine precious metal content of 31.1 grams for the 3-ruble coin and 155.5 grams for the 25-ruble coin, both with a fineness of 925/1,000. They have diameters of 39 mm and 60 mm respectively.

The obverse side displays the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation along with inscriptions such as 'РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ' (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), 'БАНК РОССИИ' (BANK OF RUSSIA), and other details including denomination, year, chemical symbol, fineness, mint trademark, and metal content.

The reverse side features different designs based on denomination:

- For both the 3-ruble (Catalogue No. 5111-0511) and standard 25-ruble coins (Catalogue No. 5115-0164), there is a relief image of the Fabergé silver scoop against a background bearing Nicholas II's monogram shaped like an egg. It includes matte finishing and decorative ornamentation.

- The colored version of the 25-ruble coin (Catalogue No. 5115-0165) also shows this scoop but adds light interference effects and colored enamel decorations.

Each coin has corrugated edges and is minted in proof quality. Their mintage numbers are limited to:

- 3-ruble coins: 3,000 pieces

- Standard 25-ruble coins: 500 pieces

- Colored coating version: another set of only 500 pieces

These coins are legal tender in Russia and must be accepted at face value without restrictions.
