Bank of Russia issues commemorative coin for Kirov's 650th anniversary

Kirov, a historic Russian city known for its trade and handicraft industry, is celebrating its 650th anniversary. To commemorate this milestone, the Bank of Russia has issued a special 3-ruble silver coin as part of the Cities series. The coin was released on May 28, 2024.

The commemorative coin is crafted from silver with a fine metal content of 31.1 grams and a fineness of 925/1,000. It measures 39.0 mm in diameter and features relief images on both sides with a rim around the circumference.

On the obverse side, the coin displays the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation along with inscriptions including "РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ" (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA), and "3 РУБЛЯ" (3 RUBLES). It also includes the year "2024 г." (2024), chemical symbols from Mendeleev’s Periodic Table, fineness details, the Saint Petersburg Mint trademark, and fine metal content.

The reverse side showcases relief images such as the sculptural composition Meeting Place, the Space Centre for Children named after Viktor Savinykh, and Vitberg House set against an urban landscape background treated for matte finishing. A three-line inscription reads "КИРОВ 650 ЛЕТ" (KIROV 650 YEARS) around the upper circumference.

The edge of this proof-quality coin is corrugated. With a mintage limited to 3,000 pieces, it serves as legal tender in Russia and must be accepted at face value for all payments without restrictions.
