RBA appoints heads for monetary policy strategy and future hub

Dr. Meredith Beechey Österholm has been appointed as the Head of Monetary Policy Strategy at the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA). This new role is part of the RBA's ongoing efforts to transform its monetary policy analysis, research, advice, and communication. The aim is to support the Board in developing a robust monetary policy strategy for informed decision-making. The new team will collaborate with various policy areas across the RBA to provide sound policy advice.

Dr. Beechey Österholm brings extensive experience from her previous roles at Sweden's Riksbank and the Federal Reserve in the US. She joined the RBA in 2023 and holds a PhD from U.C. Berkeley. Her research on macro-finance, monetary policy, and policy communication is widely recognized in academic journals, and she guest lectures at the Stockholm School of Economics.

In another appointment, Ms. Nazmiye (Naz) Guler has been named Head of the Future Hub at the RBA and will report directly to Governor Michele Bullock. Over the past fifteen months, significant changes have occurred within the RBA following an internal review led by the Future Hub.

Ms. Guler will lead her team into the next phase as they continue strengthening risk and governance frameworks while advancing cultural and leadership goals to create an open and dynamic central bank. She joined the RBA in May 2024 as Program Director of the Future Hub and has over thirty years of global experience in leading organizational transformation programs across financial services, focusing on innovation, customer experience, and large-scale project delivery.
