Bank of Russia mandates registration for digital rights in foreign trade

Foreign trade contracts that involve settlements using digital rights must be registered with authorized banks, as stated in a recent ordinance by the Bank of Russia. The thresholds for registering these contracts remain unchanged, at over ₽3 million for import contracts and ₽10 million for export contracts.

The ordinance outlines the documents and information residents are required to provide to banks. This includes data on transactions involving the transfer or receipt of digital rights as a means of payment under foreign trade contracts, as well as other foreign exchange operations related to digital rights.

This ordinance will become effective from January 11, 2025.
