Senate Banking Committee Chairman Tim Scott has expressed his support for the nomination of Andrew Hughes as Deputy Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The announcement came after President Trump selected Hughes for the role.
Scott praised Hughes's contributions under the leadership of both Secretary Ben Carson and current Secretary Scott Turner. "Under the leadership of Secretary Ben Carson, and now under Secretary Scott Turner, Andrew Hughes has been a critical advisor in implementing President Trump’s housing agenda and helping more Americans achieve the American Dream of homeownership," said Chairman Scott.
Chairman Scott further emphasized his confidence in Hughes's ability to continue reforming federal housing policies. He stated, "As Deputy Secretary of HUD, I’m confident Andrew will continue his efforts to reform failed federal housing policies, increase accountability, and make housing more affordable for all Americans."
