The Bank of Russia is organizing a financial literacy competition for schoolchildren aged 13 to 17. The winners will receive travel vouchers to the Artek International Children's Centre, where they will participate in the Investing in Knowledge program organized by the Bank of Russia.
Participants are required to create projects on cybersecurity for the elderly. These projects aim to help older adults recognize and counteract cyber fraud. The top projects will be discussed during the winners' visit to Artek.
"Anyone can fall victim to scammers but elderly people are especially vulnerable. Youngsters usually have a better sense of finance and modern technologies than the aged. I am sure that schoolchildren will come up with interesting ideas on how to teach financial cybersecurity to their grandparents," said Mikhail Mamuta, Head of the Service for Consumer Protection and Financial Inclusion of the Bank of Russia.
During their stay at Artek, students will learn about investment basics, entrepreneurship, personal and family budgeting, and ways to avoid scams. They will also be educated on what a dropper does and how to avoid involvement in financial crimes.
Applications for participation in the competition are open from April 1 through April 15, while project submissions are accepted from April 21 through May 20. Winners will be announced on June 30 in the Financial Education community on VKontakte social network.
