Last year's cash turnover in Russia experienced a 5.1% increase, as reported by the Bank of Russia. The total cash deposited at and withdrawn from banks’ cash offices and ATMs amounted to ₽130.1 trillion in 2024, with deposits reaching ₽63.6 trillion and withdrawals totaling ₽66.5 trillion.
A significant portion of these transactions occurred in individuals' bank accounts. Deposits in these accounts increased by 2.3% to ₽9.8 trillion, while withdrawals saw an 8.2% rise to ₽12.7 trillion. Additionally, cash inflow into and outflow from individuals’ deposit accounts rose by 6.2% to ₽5.1 trillion and by 2.2% to ₽8.2 trillion, respectively. The trade sector contributed ₽6.7 trillion in cash turnover.
Consistent with 2023 data, Moscow and the Moscow Region led in cash turnover amounts with ₽28.2 trillion and ₽9.1 trillion, respectively. They were followed by St Petersburg with ₽8.1 trillion and the Krasnodar Territory with ₽6.2 trillion.
