The Bank of England has announced a delay in the implementation of changes to country grouping conventions used in international banking statistics. This update affects statistics covering the international business of monetary financial institutions operating in the UK and the consolidated claims of UK-headquartered monetary financial institutions.
The delay is due to additional preparatory work required before the new conventions can be implemented. The Bank now aims to complete this work later in 2025. A further article will be published approximately one month prior to the launch to confirm the introduction of these changes.
The update to the nationality of reporting institution series in Table C3.1 has also been postponed. There have been no alterations to the set of proposed changes, and a detailed description remains available in the initial announcement.
