Financial institutions may soon offer qualified investors access to financial derivatives, securities, and digital financial assets with yields tied to cryptocurrency prices. The primary condition is that these instruments must remain non-deliverable.
Credit institutions are encouraged to adopt a conservative approach when assessing the risks linked to these instruments. This includes ensuring full capital coverage and setting individual limits on them. The Bank of Russia intends to formalize this conservative risk regulation approach throughout the year, particularly concerning fluctuations in cryptocurrency prices.
The Bank of Russia continues to caution both financial institutions and their clients against direct investments in cryptocurrencies. Additionally, the Russian Government is evaluating proposals from the Bank of Russia for launching a test regime. This regime would restrict transactions involving cryptocurrencies to specific investor categories.
