In the first quarter of 2025, retail investors showed increased activity in the securities market. This rise is linked to lower deposit rates and geopolitical news. During this period, investors deposited ₽471 billion into their brokerage accounts. Although this amount is less than the previous quarter, it represents a twofold increase compared to the same period last year.
The total assets held by retail investors remained at ₽10.6 trillion. The influx of funds was counterbalanced by negative foreign currency revaluation due to the appreciation of the ruble.
Anticipating a relaxation in monetary policy, investors chose bonds to secure high yields. The share of federal government bonds and corporate bonds from non-financial companies grew within asset structures, primarily acquired during offerings. The strengthening ruble also boosted demand for exporters' US dollar- or euro-linked bonds settled in rubles.
