In the first quarter of 2025, the average price for a standard compulsory motor third-party liability insurance (CMTPLI) policy for ordinary car drivers was ₽7,300. This marks a 5.1% decrease compared to the same period last year. During this time, nearly 8.3 million CMTPLI policies were issued to car drivers.
Other categories of policyholders, including public transport and businesses, accounted for an additional 1.5 million standard CMTPLI contracts in the same quarter. Additionally, around 0.9 million short-term CMTPLI policies were issued, primarily to taxi drivers who typically purchased them for two days at an average cost of ₽272.
The total amount collected from CMTPLI premiums amounted to ₽73.9 billion, while compensations paid out reached ₽51.7 billion.
Overall, the insurance market saw significant growth in the first quarter of 2025, expanding by nearly 50% to reach ₽845.4 billion. This growth was largely driven by endowment and investment life insurance segments. During this period, insurance payments more than doubled to reach ₽602.5 billion.
