The All Russia Association of the Blind, which supports over 185,000 individuals in overcoming challenges and protecting their rights, is being commemorated with a new coin issued by the Bank of Russia. On June 9, 2025, a 3-ruble silver commemorative coin will be released as part of the Historical Events series to mark the association's 100th anniversary.
This coin, made from fine metal content weighing 31.1 grams with a fineness of 925/1,000, has a round shape and measures 39.0 mm in diameter. Both sides of the coin feature a relief rim around its circumference.
The obverse side displays a relief image of the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation along with inscriptions that include "РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ" (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), "БАНК РОССИИ" (BANK OF RUSSIA), "3 РУБЛЯ" (3 RUBLES), and "2025 г." (2025). Additional details include the chemical symbol for silver from Mendeleev’s Periodic Table, fineness information, the Saint Petersburg Mint trademark, and fine metal content.
On the reverse side is a colored relief image of the logo for the All Russia Association of the Blind (VOS) alongside Braille inscriptions marking "100 ЛЕТ" (100 YEARS). Below this are two lines repeating "100 ЛЕТ" (100 YEARS). Above the VOS logo is a QR code designed with laser-treated matte finishing that directs users to an audio description option on the VOS website when scanned with a smartphone.
The edge of this proof-quality coin is corrugated. With a mintage limited to 5,000 pieces, it serves as legal tender within Russia and must be accepted for all payments at face value without restrictions.
