The Bank of Russia will release a new series of 25-ruble cupronickel commemorative coins on September 1, 2025. The coins are part of the Russian Sports series and feature five organizations: Dynamo, CSKA, Lokomotiv, Spartak, and Labor Reserves.
Each coin has a round shape with a diameter of 27.0 mm. Both sides have a relief rim around the circumference and the edge is corrugated. On the obverse side, there is a relief image of the National Coat of Arms of the Russian Federation. Above this image is the semicircular inscription ‘РОССИЙСКАЯ ФЕДЕРАЦИЯ’ (RUSSIAN FEDERATION), framed with paired diamonds on both sides. Also present are the mint trademark on the right, and inscriptions for ‘БАНК РОССИИ’ (BANK OF RUSSIA), ‘25 РУБЛЕЙ’ (25 RUBLES), and ‘2025 г.’ (2025) arranged in three lines below the coat of arms.
The reverse side features colored images representing each sports society:
- The Dynamo coin includes symbols from All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Society Dynamo with a relief inscription at the top.
- The CSKA coin shows symbols from Central Sports Club of the Army.
- The Lokomotiv coin depicts symbols from Russian Physical Culture and Sports Society Lokomotiv with an inscription at the top.
- The Spartak coin features symbols from Russian Physical Culture and Sports Society Spartak with an inscription at the top.
- The Labor Reserves coin displays symbols from All-Russian Physical Culture and Sports Society Labor Reserves.
Each version will have a mintage limited to 50,000 pieces.
According to the Bank of Russia, "The new coins are legal tender of the Russian Federation and are mandatory for acceptance for all kinds of payments without any restrictions at their face value."
