The Swiss National Bank (SNB) has selected six finalists in its design competition for a new series of banknotes. The chosen concepts, labeled B, G, H, J, K, and L, will advance to the final stage of the competition. This decision was influenced by a public survey and evaluations from an advisory board of external experts.
Over 100,000 people participated in the survey between August 13 and September 7, 2025. The SNB expressed gratitude for the public's interest and feedback. In the next phase, potential collaboration with designers and commercial considerations will be assessed.
The winner is expected to be announced in the first quarter of 2026. Afterward, further development of the designs will commence. The final banknote designs may differ significantly from those initially submitted.
According to SNB's Organisation Regulations, the Bank Council holds responsibility for deciding on banknote designs. The SNB anticipates that the new banknotes will be issued at the earliest in the early 2030s.
