At a Senate Banking Committee nominations hearing, Chairman Tim Scott urged swift consideration for a list of nominees for significant positions both in the Trump administration and federal financial regulatory bodies. The nominees include Mr. Andrew Hughes and Mr. David Woll for the Department of Housing and Urban Development, The Honorable Michelle Bowman for the Federal Reserve System, and Mr. John Hurley for the Department of the Treasury. Additional nominations are Mr. David Fogel and Mr. Landon Heid for roles within the Department of Commerce.

Tim Scott commended the committee’s outgoing Chief Clerk, Cameron Ricker, for their service, highlighting their commitment and integrity in serving under various chairmen. Scott emphasized the importance of the organizational roles these nominees are being called to fill, which range from issues of housing and export administration to combating illicit finance.

Chairman Scott mentioned, “The nominees we will hear from today will serve in agencies that touch on every single aspect of our economy – from housing affordability to fighting illicit finance, to expanding American exports, to ensuring sound supervision in our banking system.” He noted that these roles are fundamental in impacting American families directly.

In his opening remarks, Scott stated, “As Chairman of the Senate Banking Committee, I believe deeply that our job is not just to debate policies – but to deliver results.” The Committee aims to advance well-qualified individuals who are committed to providing solutions for issues affecting the nation.

Expressing his views on the nomination of Michelle Bowman, Scott said, “As Vice Chair for Supervision, Governor Bowman will bring accountability and transparency to the Fed and ensure it operates as an independent institution void of politics.”

Towards the end of the hearing, Scott reiterated the need for a government focused on delivering practical solutions rather than chasing headlines. He encouraged his colleagues to advance the confirmations of these nominees swiftly, underlining their readiness and importance to the American public.
